Battery Problems
Phone resetting - Calls cutting out - "Move closer to base"
2 different causes
This video shows what happens when the battery fails in specific Panasonic cordless phones. The LCD will still claim the battery is charged but any time you try to make a call (access the radio) the power drops and the phone resets.
 

Bad Battery

This style battery contact has problems. The contact to the battery is poor and prevents good conductivity. This can reduce the power available to the phone and also cause problems with charging. |

Battery or battery terminals? How to tell.....
Battery: If your phone works fine for a short time after an overnight charge but then starts dropping calls consistently or resets instantly every time you try to answer or make a call then it's likely the battery. A good, fully charged battery should last for several hours on a test intercom call and the phone should never reset, especially with 2 or 3 blocks in the battery level indicator.
Contacts: If the phone resets randomly but still works after the reset without recharging, the problem could be just the battery contacts. Try a test intercom call to the base while leaving the phone alone on a flat surface. If the phone is not moved and the battery can't wiggle then the phone should not reset... if it's the battery contacts causing issues.

Both problems are common!
You could have a combination of both issues. An older battery will experience more problems when used in a phone with boor contacts. Also poor contacts can cause issues with charging the battery in the first place.
